6th Annual National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy Workshop

The National Workshops were conceived to help stakeholders understand the Cohesive Strategy and see themselves as part of the solutions to wildland fire issues across the nation. The Workshops helped to build and strengthen relationships, support Cohesive Strategy activities, and facilitate Cohesive Strategy implementation.

8th International Wildland Fire Conference

Partner - Forest Camp -Association of Independent Firefighting Experts (SNEP)

Last year, the Association of Independent Firefighting Experts (SNEP) organized the Forest Camp for the first time. Over 100 participants and instructors from 8 countries gathered there.
Participants will familiarize themselves with the most current knowledge and will be able to apply it in practice under the guidance of experts. There will be plenty of exercises with fire, innovative solutions and interesting surprises. During the course, we anticipate to have around a dozen themed stations, where we will present the necessary knowledge for safely and effectively extinguishing forests in an accessible manner. There will also be an opportunity to get acquainted with product innovations from renowned manufacturers of firefighting equipment.

IX INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOREST FIRE RESEARCH & 17th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit

The Conference aims to provide an up-to-date on the developments in forest fire science and technology and an opportunity to meet persons and institutions, to promote international cooperation in this research and management area. Following its previous editions, the scope of this Conference will cover the main topics related to fire management from a research perspective. There will be six major themes for you to present your work, each of them with several sub-topics, that you can find here on the website. The themes are related to Fire at the Wildland Urban Interface, Fire Risk Management, Decision Support Systems and Tools, Fire Management, Fuel Management, and Socio-Economic Issues. These themes are not restricted and we are open to other subjects that are proposed, as well.

Two courses, the VI Short Course on Fire Safety and the IX Short Course on Forest Fire Behaviour will be held before the Conference, as related but separate events.

5th National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy Workshop

The Cohesive Strategy remains the solid framework by which to address and identify solutions for today’s complex wildland fire issues. In providing the pathway to change the negative trajectory of wildland fire, it is critical that the Cohesive Strategy evolve to meet the current and future challenges facing federal, tribal, state, local, and non-governmental stakeholders.

The 5th Annual National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy will focus on “Keeping pace with reality – accepting the hard truths and boldly undertaking the hard work.”

UK Wildfire Conference 2022

The two-day UK Wildfire Conference 2022 will take place in the Europa Hotel, Belfast 0n 9/10th November 2022 and will focus on the theme of Wildfires - The Human Dimension”. This event will bring together various agencies who work on this topic, with delegates and speakers ranging from professional firefighters, land managers, academics, researchers and government officials. Although a national conference, it will have speakers from around the world, ensuring we learn from what is happening elsewhere in terms of wildfires and their human impact and consequences. The event is being organised by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and NI Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with the International Association of Wildland Fire (IAWF).

2022 Wildland Fire Canada Conference & Smoke Forum

Wildland Fire Canada Conference (WFCC) brings together wildland fire management agencies, partners, and collaborators in Canada and around the world. These biennial conferences focus on wildland fire management, ecology, and science in Canada. 16th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit & 6th Human Dimensions of Wildland Fire Conference

Thank you to everyone who joined us on a trip around the world through the lens of wildland fire. Across four days in May 2021, IAWF presented real world risks and opportunities in an online environment. We connected a truly international audience, with global topics and speakers from most regions around the world, on different continents and time zones. The IAWF 16th Wildland Fire Safety Summit and the 6th Human Dimensions Conference addressed the issues that make the global wildland fire community safe, smart and supported.
