UK Wildfire Conference 2022

The two-day UK Wildfire Conference 2022 will take place in the Europa Hotel, Belfast 0n 9/10th November 2022 and will focus on the theme of Wildfires - The Human Dimension”. This event will bring together various agencies who work on this topic, with delegates and speakers ranging from professional firefighters, land managers, academics, researchers and government officials. Although a national conference, it will have speakers from around the world, ensuring we learn from what is happening elsewhere in terms of wildfires and their human impact and consequences.  The event is being organised by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and NI Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with the International Association of Wildland Fire (IAWF).

IX INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOREST FIRE RESEARCH & 17th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit
November 11-18, 2022
Coimbra, Portugal

The Conference aims to provide an up-to-date on the developments in forest fire science and technology and an opportunity to meet persons and institutions, to promote international cooperation in this research and management area. Following its previous editions, the scope of this Conference will cover the main topics related to fire management from a research perspective. There will be six major themes for you to present your work, each of them with several sub-topics, that you can find here on the website. The themes are related to Fire at the Wildland Urban Interface, Fire Risk Management, Decision Support Systems and Tools, Fire Management, Fuel Management, and Socio-Economic Issues. These themes are not restricted and we are open to other subjects that are proposed, as well.

Two courses, the VI Short Course on Fire Safety and the IX Short Course on Forest Fire Behaviour will be held before the Conference, as related but separate events.

5th National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy Workshop

The Cohesive Strategy remains the solid framework by which to address and identify solutions for today’s complex wildland fire issues. In providing the pathway to change the negative trajectory of wildland fire, it is critical that the Cohesive Strategy evolve to meet the current and future challenges facing federal, tribal, state, local, and non-governmental stakeholders.

The 5th Annual National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy will focus on “Keeping pace with reality – accepting the hard truths and boldly undertaking the hard work.”
