Nico Semsch

2025 Early Career Award in Fire Operations
Nico Semsch is the recipient of the 2025 Early Career Award in Fire Operations Nico Semsch is the initiator and driving force behind SKV Nordost, which builds capacity in wildfire management for municipal volunteer fire services in Brandenburg Germany. He also serves as an external instructor for wildfire in the state fire academy of Brandenburg and is active as a mentor to young wildfire recruits. He is a consultant on wildfire prevention for the State of Saxony in a project run by the European Union. His specialization is in developing forest fire prevention concepts for areas that are contaminated by unexploded ordnance in north east Germany. Nico is a rising star of the next generation of fire managers that have both an academic and a practical operational background, plus an international perspective and a sharing personality.
