Jason Kuiken

Currently, I am the Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus NF in California, just north of Yosemite NP; a wonderful fire dependent ecosystem. Prior to coming to the Stanislaus NF, I worked on the Okanogan-Wenatchee NF in north-central Washington – another wonderful landscape shaped by fire. In order to learn more, and to share my experiences, I am a co-line officer lead for the Risk Management Assistance program, a steering committee member for S-520, and on the cadre for “You Will not Stand Alone” and M-582. Nationally, with a continued increase in fire behavior, intensity and size, we have a need to use different planning and implementation tools to protect and enhance the landscapes we manage in order to reduce the risk to habitat, communities, and other highly valued resources and assets.
