David Bruce

David Bruce (board member 2016-21) Program Manager, International Association of Wildland Fire (2024- current) David Bruce is the Program Manager for the International Association of Wildland Fire and is based in Melbourne, Australia. He works closely with the IAWF Executive Director on all IAWF activities including conference organisation, Board and Committee governance, and communications. He edits the Wildfire Today/Fire Aviation online news site and manages the association's social media accounts. Previously, David was Communications Manager for Natural Hazards Research Australia, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre, and the Bushfire CRC. David oversaw the development and implementation of the branding and communications of these organisations and led a small team managing publications, online media, stakeholder relations, media relations and events. He is on the IAWF Communications Committee and is an Associate Editor of Wildfire magazine, produced by the International Association of Wildland Fire. His working life began as a journalist and news editor with Melbourne’s daily broadsheet The Age and News Limited’s community newspapers, and later as the Communications and Media Manager at Monash and Deakin universities.
