Presenter Information

Following is information on a number of conference items: Birds of a Feather Sessions, conference proceedings, poster presentation guidelines, and conference logistics, which we hope you find useful. If you are unable to attend the conference for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust the program schedule.

Bird of a Feather Sessions

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Human Dimensions of Wildland Fire Conference will feature "Birds of a Feather" sessions, to be held on Wednesday afternoon, April 28th.  A Birds of a Feather (BoF) session provides a gathering place and discussion forum for those interested in the same issues and concepts. BoFs can be organized for sharing ideas on the specific topics, whether narrow or broad. These are not workshops or sessions where people present papers, but open, "brainstorming" forums for attendees who want to get together with others to share their current interests, goals, technology, environment, or backgrounds.  If you want to organize a “Birds of a Feather” session, please send the following information to Mikel Robinson, at mikel.robinson@umontana.edu, no later than April 5th:

Affiliation:

E-mail:
Title of BoF Session:
Description of Session – 100 words or less:

BoF topics should be appropriate to the conference. The Conference Steering Committee will make the final decision and schedule the BoF sessions into timeslots and locations. A list of scheduled BoFs will be posted in the registration area at the conference and will also be available on this web page.

Please note that audio/visual equipment, including projection equipment, will not be available for BoF sessions.

Conference Proceedings

The conference proceedings for the IAWF 2nd Human Dimensions Conference will be published electronically and posted approximately 6 months after the conference. The deadline for paper submission is June 25, 2010.  The guidelines will be sent out shortly, as well as posted on the conference webpage.

Presentation Submission and Speaker Ready Room:
All speakers are required to check in at the speaker table at least 4 hours prior to their session, or as early as possible. Check in at the conference registration table to receive additional information about the speaker ready room.

Note: If your graphics or video clips are not imbedded into your presentation, please bring them as well. If your presentation was created on a MAC and converted to run on a PC, please test it before you come to the meeting.  Make sure that the hyperlinks still function. Poster Presentation Guidelines

Schedule & Format:
The formal poster session and reception is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27th from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Beverages and light refreshments will be served. Authors are expected to be present to discuss their poster during that period.

At the beginning of the poster session, we will give each presenter 3 minutes to introduce and entice attendees to visit their poster. This is not a PowerPoint presentation, just a verbal “teaser.” While this is not required, we strongly encourage your participation. Please let us know if you plan to take advantage of this opportunity by sending an e-mail to Mikel Robinson at mikel.robinson@umontana.edu

You can set up your poster anytime between 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26th and 4:00 p.m. on April 27th. They can remain on display until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th. Please check in at the conference registration desk for the poster session location.

Poster Specifications:
We will provide 1 poster panel board measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet wide. We recommend that you leave at least 2 inch margins on all sides of your poster.

We will provide you with pushpins or Velcro to attach your posters to the panel.
