"Promoting the Story of Wildland Fire Safety
... From the Local to the Global"
Welcome!
The Safety Summit returned to Missoula in 2011 with a unique theme that celebrates the role of story and narrative in advances in wildland fire safety research and practice. "Promoting the Story of Wildland Fire Safety…From the Local to the Global" featured keynote speakers who continue to push the boundaries of research and practice in wildland fire safety by incorporating elements of story and narrative in their work.
The program offered special training opportunities, including special workshops with international safety expert Gordon Graham. In addition to contributed oral presentations, the conference also featured "electronic" posters for the first time.
The 11th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit took full advantage of its location in Missoula by offering indoor and outdoor exhibitor shows, a special screening of Red Skies of Montana, and tours to key wildland fire landmarks in the Missoula area including the Missoula Smokejumper base.
