EXHIBITORS
Association for Fire Ecology The Association for Fire Ecology began with a small group of researchers and managers from several universities and agencies who initially formed the California Association for Fire Ecology (CAFE). In 2000 they expanded into the nonprofit Association for Fire Ecology (AFE) whose mission is to improve the knowledge and use of fire in land management through science and education. AFE continues to grow as an organization of professionals working on a broad array of fire research, management, and policy issues, and welcomes new members to join and get involved. The JFSP's mission is to provide credible research tailored to the needs of fire and fuel managers; Engage and listen to clients and then develop focused, strategic lines of new research responsive to those needs; Solicit proposals from scientists who compete for funding through a rigorous peer-review process designed to ensure the best projects are funded and Focus on science delivery when research is completed with a suite of communication tools to ensure that managers are aware of, understand, and can use the information to make sound decisions and implement projects The Program is uniquely positioned to tailor wildland fire research in response to the emerging needs of policymakers and fire managers. An annual cycle of proposal solicitation, review, and funding ensures timely response to evolving conditions. Research projects complement and build on other federal research programs, such as those in the Forest Service Forest and Rangeland Research Stations, U.S. Geological Survey, and National Fire Plan. Synthesis of research findings and targeted delivery to managers are essential components of the Program. More than 90 colleges and universities have also collaborated on and partnered with JFSP‑sponsored research projects. By engaging masters and doctoral candidates in these projects, we are training the next generation of resource managers and scientists. This collaboration extends to private, non-profit organizations and tribal, state, county, and local governments as well. In all, nearly 200 organizations have become partners in JFSP-sponsored research.

The Wildland Firefighter Foundation provides vital financial and emotional assistance to families of wildland firefighters who die, or are seriously injured in the line of duty. Each year, firefighters lose their lives or sustain major injuries while involved in wildland fire efforts. In the event of a firefighter injury or fatality, monetary assistance is frequently very slow to arrive from their home agency. The Foundation bridges this gap by granting monies directly to a firefighter's family to make ends meet in the interim. The Foundation is fully funded and supported by donations of those who care for these professionals from all walks of life. The Wildland Firefighter Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c) 3 non-profit, located in Boise, Idaho. Visit our website at: http://www.wffoundation.org |
